Corsair’s mirror. Sunset over the western coast of Sardinia. In this photograph I’ve played with the opposites: the emptiness of the sky with the richness of the foreground; the intersection between the harshness of the rocks and the clean stillness of the water of the puddle within.

The land of light and wind. Sunset over the island of Pan di zucchero, in the western coast of Sardinia. The extremely windy day allowed me to take full advantage of the long exposure: the setting sun painted the clouds with a warm light along their entire way, while the soft and ethereal form of the sea accentuated the rough spiky shapes of the rocks.
The twilight on Capo Pecora, Sardinia, changed the landscape amazingly: the golden halo of sunlight decreased and the sky darkened, becoming deep blue. In that moment the lower sides of the clouds turned purple, painting a mesmerizing canvas above the sea; part of those vibrant hues mirrored on the almost still water of the cove. I was in an estathic wonder, practically hypnotized by such an amazing sight; nonetheless I seized the opportunity to capture it to the best of my ability.

The photograph Complementarity belongs to the award-winning series of the ND Awards 2017: “Study of seascape at sunset” – Category Seascapes/WaterscapesAs the sun was disappearing below the horizon, the gradient of colors in the sky became more vibrant: the intense golden light around the sun, opposed to the cold tones of magenta and blue up in the sky, produced and ephemeral and amazing vision which turned the cove of Capo Pecora and its rough-edged rocks in an otherworldly scenery.

This photograph belongs to the award-winning series of the ND Awards 2017: “Study of seascape at sunset” – Category Seascapes/WaterscapesWhen the sun started to set on Capo Pecora, the magic of the golden hour turned the cove into a mesmerizing scenery; the last rays of light, passing through the irregularities of the rocks, made the surfaces of the wet pebbles shine, while the bright sky on the horizon emphasized the harsh silhouettes between the shore and the sun.
I captured this moment using my ultrawide lens, equipped with a graduated ND filter and the Lee Big Stopper filter, which extended the exposure and accentuated the effect of light and colors on the scene.

The photograph Convergence belongs to the award-winning series of the ND Awards 2017: “Study of seascape at sunset” – Category Seascapes/WaterscapesSardinian sea in Mari Pintau, just after the sunset. This shot of a sunset is a three exposure bracketed HDR taken with my Pentax K-5. After the blending and the B&W conversion, I’ve adjusted tones and contrast using the luminosity mask technique.
